Que d\u2019adjectifs pour qualifier la visite de la mine de Chuquicamata.<\/p>\n<p>Depuis 1912, les chiliens exploitent cette mine de cuivre mais les Incas connaissaient son existence. Ce sont d\u2019abord les am\u00e9ricains qui l\u2019ont exploit\u00e9 jusqu\u2019en 1971, date de sa nationalisation.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>25 000 personnes travaillent dans la mine. C\u2019est une mine \u00e0 ciel ouvert et<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>la plus grande du monde avec Escondida au sud d\u2019Antofagasta : un crat\u00e8re de 5 km de long, 3km de large et 1km de profondeur !<\/p>\n<p>Nous avions r\u00e9serv\u00e9 par Internet notre visite, c\u2019est obligatoire mais nous sommes arriv\u00e9s avant le mail \u2026. Qu\u2019importe nous leur avons montr\u00e9 que le mail \u00e9tait bien parti et nous avons pu avoir 2 places pour la visite de 13h. Les instructions sont pr\u00e9cises : pantalon, manches longues et chaussures ferm\u00e9es en plus on nous donne un gilet orange et un casque. Sous 30\u00b0, il fait chaud mais l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9, je plains les visiteurs.<\/p>\n<p>Un car nous emm\u00e8ne du bureau Codelco \u00e0 Calama \u00e0 Chuquicamata en une vingtaine de minutes. Non seulement la mine logeait ses mineurs mais des magasins, restaurants, h\u00f4tels, banques permettaient de vivre en autarcie. Les mineurs sont nettement moins bien lotis. On aper\u00e7oit que de loin les logements et ne se visitent pas.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>La ville a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9vacu\u00e9e en 2007 suite \u00e0 la pollution de l\u2019air.<\/p>\n<p>On remonte dans le car pour aller voir la mine. C\u2019est impressionnant. Nous roulons jusqu\u2019\u00e0 un mirador qui nous permet de voir le crat\u00e8re.
