Ville fond\u00e9e au VIII\u00e8me S av. JC par les ph\u00e9niciens sur un ancien site nuragien. Des anciens remparts, il ne reste que la tour. La c\u00e9l\u00e8bre Eleonora d\u2019Arboria tr\u00f4ne toujours sur la piazza. Cette dame s\u2019est rendue c\u00e9l\u00e8bre parce qu\u2019elle \u00e9labora une chartre qui donnait aux femmes une place et des droits dans la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 ce qui \u00e9tait r\u00e9volutionnaire au XIV\u00e8S.
